Almost 100 classic Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, Firebirds, Challengers… and Families came together at Trailers of the East Coast on Saturday, May 9 to raise over $10,000.00.
In this family owned and operated business, when a member of the service team, David Milholand, got a diagnosis of stage 4 cancer, owners and employees came together and decided to host a small car show and an auction of NASCAR memorabilia to raise some money in support of David and his family.
While it was impressive to see almost 100 classic cars, and auction items that included NASCAR hoods, bumpers and fenders autographed by some of the sport’s top drivers, it was even more impressive to see the “family” come together at Trailers of the East Coast. Trailers of the East Coast employees showed up with spouses, kids and even grandchildren; some to volunteer and some just to enjoy the car show and auction while offering support and encouragement to David and his family.
I don’t know exactly how many members of the Junker Family there are altogether, and they were all working too hard that day to stand still long enough to get an accurate count, but members of all three generations worked together as a team to pull off one of the most memorable days in the history of this company since 1945!
One of the highlights was getting to watch David check a few items off of his “bucket-list” enjoying rides in some of the hottest “Rods” from the car show. You can’t miss David’s enthusiasm (see photos below).
The 2015 Davie County High School and SkillsUSA Auto Tech Car Show and NASCAR Memorabilia Auction will be held at Trailers of the East Coast on Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The auction is heating up with some exciting auction items being donated through the generosity of NASCAR teams and drivers for the David Milholand Benefit Auction. David is a Trailers of the East Coast employee who has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. The money raised from the auction will be donated to support David and his family.
NASCAR Memorabilia David Milholand Benefit Auction
There will be a live auction of NASCAR memorabilia during the car show. Get some very exciting NASCAR collectibles, memorabilia and full size race car décor items for your man cave and much, much more. We have selected the national auction company, The Swicegood Group, Inc. to manage and conduct the auction. In addition to the live auction on the day of the car show, you can join the fun at the online auction by visiting www.readybid.com. Bid prices at the live auction will start with the highest bid received online up until that point. Thank you to all of the NASCAR teams and drivers who are really stepping up to the plate for this benefit auction. Here are a few of the items you can bid on before and during the live auction.
Please join us as we congratulate Trevor Walterman, Trailers of the East Coast Graphics Department Manager. Trevor has earned the designation of preferred provider for graphics installation from 3M, the worldwide leader in mobile graphics materials and installation training.
The preferred provider designation required the completion of an intensive training program that concluded with two full days of hands-on and written tests. These tests required the installer to demonstrate knowledge and skills for the application of graphics on vehicles, boats and trailers and included application on surfaces with rivets and/or corrugations, smooth walls and/or textured surfaces, and even floor graphics. Trevor Walterman completed the course work and passed all tests and skill proficiency demonstrations with flying colors. Congratulations Trevor!
